Officials said all factory workers who had not been assigned to homes in the first two rounds would be eligible for the application. The first lottery took place in 2012 when MHADA sold 6,925 homes at a modest price of 225 square feet each, spread across 19 industrial complexes.

The cutoff year was set in 1981, which allowed factory workers to be eligible and who were on the plant list that year. “The government has taken a step forward, but we did not even talk about the housing issue with us,” said Datta Iswalkar. Mr. Iswalkar has been at the forefront of the factory workers’ struggle for homes and compensation. Prime Minister Devendra Fadnavis, who was at the awards ceremony in Rangsharda Hall, Bandra, assured the audience that the state government is working hard to provide homes for all workers at the plant. A total of 1.84 workers in mills were affected by the disappearance of the textile industry of the city.

Mill workers who did not get allotment of MHADA house, they don’t think that their name will not come. Because the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) is constructing new houses in Vasai, Kalyan and Panvel. The size of the apartment would be 320 square feet and would cost Rs 6 Lakh. “The housing lottery will be held soon and will be open to millers in general, not to those of a particular mill,” official said. “Work will soon begin at another 10 factories,” he added.

All mill workers will be allotted MHADA Flats very soon. Other 10 factories workers should be happy that they will have own flats very soon.

    My father was a worker at Finley Mills for around 30 to 35 years, We applied for flat in Mumbai in Mill Workers Housing Scheme but we aren’t received any positive status yet on the same.
