BPL stands for below poverty line. BPL is set by the government of India as an economic benchmark for the people living in extreme poverty.

The Government uses various parameters to identify the below poverty line (BPL) sections. These parameters may vary from state to state and may be different for rural and urban areas.
In India, in 2011, the poverty line was defined by the Suresh Tendulkar Committee. It was defined on the basis of monthly expenditure on food, health, education, transport and electricity.
According to this committee, a person who spends Rs. 33.3 a day in urban areas and Rs. 27.2 a day in rural areas are living below the poverty line.

In order to digitalize the population of Bihar, the government has launched a facility where the ration card can be seen online. Ration card has been divided into two parts APL card and BPL card.
The APL card is for people who are above the poverty line. And BPL card is for those who are below the poverty line. In order to get a BPL card in Bihar state, the income of the person should be below 10000 rupees per annum.
And for the APL ration card, anybody above the income of 10000 can apply. The color of BPL card is red and that of APL card is blue.

Bihar Ration Card Documents Required:
- The applicant must have a voter ID card.
- The applicant must have an Aadhar card.
- The number of LPG gas connection is required.
- A detailed document containing the information regarding the income of all family members is required.
- Electricity bill receipt is also required.
Bihar Ration Card Benefits:

- Then click on N.F.S.A list.
- Choose your residing district.
- Then choose your Tehsil in the mentioned list.
- And at last, now you can search your name in the list.
